Celebrating the very best of our students
Night Full of Stars is John O’Gaunt School’s annual celebration of our incredible students and the achievements, qualities and contributions that make our school community so special.
First launched in 2025, Night Full of Stars has become an important event in our school calendar. It gives us the opportunity to recognise students not only for academic achievement, but also for their effort, character, kindness, leadership, determination, personal growth and contribution to school life.
At the heart of the evening are our three school values:
Ambition • Care • Courage
These values run through all of our awards. We want to celebrate young people who aim high and strive to be their best, who demonstrate kindness and care for others, and who show the courage to overcome challenges, try something new or make a positive difference.
Nominate Someone for an Award
One of the things that makes Night Full of Stars so special is that our whole school community can help us recognise those who deserve to shine.
Students, parents/carers and members of staff are all invited to make nominations for the Night Full of Stars awards.
Whether it is someone who has achieved something exceptional, shown remarkable improvement, quietly worked hard throughout the year, demonstrated kindness to others, overcome a challenge or consistently lived our values of
Ambition, Care and Courage, we want to hear about them.

Our Awards
Students are nominated for a wide range of awards, ensuring that success is recognised in all its different forms. Awards include:
- Most Engaged Learner – recognising exceptional enthusiasm, participation and commitment to learning.
- Outstanding Achievement – celebrating remarkable achievement and success.
- Quiet Achiever – recognising students whose consistent hard work and achievements may sometimes happen away from the spotlight.
- Leadership – celebrating students who positively influence, support and inspire others.
- Growth and Improvement – recognising exceptional progress, perseverance and personal development.
- Personal Excellence – celebrating students who continually strive to be the very best version of themselves.
- Students’ Student – recognising a student who has earned the respect and admiration of their peers.
- Ambition Award – celebrating those who demonstrate aspiration, determination and high expectations of themselves.
- Care Award – recognising exceptional kindness, compassion and support for others.
- Courage Award – celebrating resilience, bravery and the determination to overcome challenges.
- Heart of Gold – recognising an individual whose kindness, generosity and character make a special difference to our community.
- Staff Award – giving us the opportunity to recognise a member of staff who has made an exceptional contribution to our students and school community.
Together, these awards reflect our belief that achievement is about much more than examination results. Every student has the potential to shine, and Night Full of Stars provides an opportunity to celebrate the many different ways in which they do so.
